I'm Thankful

Yesterday was full of hard work and great food, but sadly I didn't make time to think of all that I have to be thankful for. So I dub today my actual thanksgiving. In celebration I played a game. I typed as long as I could about everything I'm thankful for and here's the result. It can be easy to think of all the things I'd like to change or the things that aren't going my way, but it was humbling to really sit and thank the Lord for everything He's given me.

I'm thankful for the financial aid I've been awarded that makes it possible for me to get back into school and I'm thankful for my country that is forever the greatest. I'm thankful that God created laughter and that He made me Me- my weird, quirky, loud, and proud self. I'm thankful for the teachers in my past who taught me "Weird is Good" and that education is fun and I'm thankful for my bosses who have taught me more than how to flip a burger or take an order.

I'm thankful for the pain I've experienced and the friends I've lost. I'm thankful for the car I get to drive every day and for the bed I tend to spend way too much time in. I'm thankful for my time in Kenya and for how that experience changed me forever. I'm thankful for all my clients who have entrusted me with much more than the number on the scale and who love me just like I love them.

I'm thankful for my fiancé's family that will soon become mine and for the love they've already shown me. I'm thankful that I'm in good health and I'm thankful that I have a family who loves me and supports me in everything I do. I'm thankful for the friends I've been given who genuinely care about me and for the dog that I have so much love for. I'm thankful for my big Kermott family that taught me the importance of puns and prayer. I'm thankful for my grandparents who showed me true relationship goals and for my cousins who were my first friends.

I'm thankful for my parents who have given up so much for me and who brought me up in the Truth. I'm thankful that my dad lived when he got hit by that car, and I'm thankful that that situation will forever be a reminder to say "I love you" too many times. I'm thankful for my moms beautiful voice and heart that I'll never be able to live up to and I'm thankful for the unique relationship I have with my sister. I'm thankful for my loving brother and for the fact that I get to make him smile every day.

I'm thankful for the man I get to call my husband in just six short months and for all the love and sacrifice he shows me day in and day out. I'm thankful he's my best friend and my biggest support.

But I'm most thankful for my God, for everything He has done for me. I'm thankful He wants me and that He died for me. I'm thankful for the fact that He loves me and cares for me no more and no less, no matter how many mess ups I make or how many prayers I pray. I'm thankful that He's shown me that the mission field is wherever He places me and I'm thankful that He's let me experience joy and disappointment. I'm thankful that He understands my emotional days and He never stops working on me. I'm thankful He knows the future and I'm thankful that I don't.

I'm thankful for my life, not because it's perfect but because it's been given to me.

I don't say this to be cliché I say this because it's true; you are a blessing. So thank you, thank you for being a part of my life in whatever way you are. Happy Thanksgiving (take two)!
