A Vow
"From this day forward you will always have someone to listen to you, a shoulder to cry on, and someone to make you laugh and bring you chocolate when you're down."
My beautiful sweet friend, Lauren, painted this beaut and let me tell you I have never been someone who can look at a painting and feel. I've only understood that with three paintings and this, this powerful piece, is one of them. I think it's just beautiful and I think that it's a great representation of what life sometimes is like, what marriage sometimes is like.
You might think, wow this girl can take anything and pull marriage out of it, and you're probably right. It's the season of life I'm in right now. I think it's the same if you're in college, or having babies, or a brand new empty-nester, or really in any time in life.
There's ups & downs to every season and this painting perfectly portrays what I believe to be just that. You might be feeling blue when there's nothing but reasons to be thankful and joyful surrounding you and that's okay. You might feel defeated and tired and just want r e s t. I see all of that in this painting. But I also see love. I see love in the middle of every new season. I see love surrounding you when you're down. I see love in the midst of pain.
I started this with an excerpt of my husbands vows to me. To me, this painting is love. To me, this painting is love how I need it. It is letting me feel when I just need to feel. It is listening when I just need to be listened to. It is enabling my chocolate addiction just because.
To me, this painting is love, a special and intimate love. One from a Father to His child. So I will end this with one of my favorite verses, one of the verses that give me overwhelming peace when I feel just like the blue woman painted with sadness, fear, and defeat.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
He is the ultimate giver of peace and the epitome of love.
